Having a child, being pregnant, giving birth, are life stages that raise specific questions and feelings. Feelings of joy, but sometimes also uncertainty, fear or gloom. It is normal that you have to get used to the new situation. However, if you feel that you are having problems, or if the feelings or thoughts are adversely affecting daily life, it is wise to seek help.

Psyche en Zwangerschap provides generalistic mental healthcare (GB GGZ) to pregnant and recently given women with psychological problems and to women with psychological complaints during a fertility process. The care is provided by GZ psychologists. All psychologists work independently and have their own practice. On this website we bundle the information about our joint specialization.

We try to see you as soon as possible, if necessary also (just) after the delivery. This prevents the complaints from getting worse.

Types of complaints

The treatment concept of Psyche en Zwangerschap focuses mainly on clients with mild to moderate psychological complaints. For example, women who visit a psychologist from Psyche en Zwangerschap have problems or questions regarding:

  • Gloom and depression
  • Fears (e.g. for childbirth or motherhood)
  • Traumatic childbirth or past trauma
  • Processing loss, grief
  • Concerns about fertility problems
  • Worries around the 20-week ultrasound

In addition to the guidelines that are followed for the treatment of depression, special attention is paid to client’s general situation.

Psyche and Pregnancy and does not focus on psychiatric problems such as (puerperal) psychosis, schizophrenia or serious addiction or personality issues.

Registration and treatment

Referral

To be eligible for compensation from your insurance you need a referral letter from your GP or your company doctor, which must contain the following information:

  • Doctor’s full name and AGB code
  • The date on the referral letter must be earlier than the date of the first appointment
  • The presumed diagnose
  • A brief description of the symptoms

Intake and treatment

Bring the following to your first appointment:

  • Doctor’s referral letter
  • Health insurance card
  • Proof of identify

During the intake, an estimation will be made of the most suitable treatment for your issue. This will depend on the seriousness and complexity of your issues. Treatment may consist of talking, email contact, t . The therapist may also advise an Internet based treatment.
